Baazar Retail Limited, a joint business venture of Mr.Manoj Khemka and Mr.Sanjay Saraf came into existence on 28th August 1998 at Gariahat. Both have extensive experience in the field of Textiles and garments. Initially the company engaged itself in the wholesale marketing of sarees. The prospects of the retailing and garments industry being extremely bright, the company decided to open a mega retail outlet by the name of Baazar Kolkata at Gariahat on 17th August 2002. Offering trendy and fashionable clothes at affordable prizes, it soon became a favoured haunt of its customers.
By 2003 three more outlets were opened at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Surat respectively to cater to the demand of the customers. after grand sucess in surat Baazar Kolkata also reached Ahmedabad in 2004. Today in 2008, there are a total of 17 retail outlets spread across different states offering along with Garments for men ,women and children, Cosmetics, articles of household use, Toys, Stationery items and accessories.
In West Bengal apart from Gariahat, Baazar Kolkata outlets are located at Lindsay Street, Park Street, VIP Road, Salt Lake city, Siliguri and Asansol.
An extremely successful venture, Baazar Kolkata achieved a turnover of Rs, 130 crores within a brief period of 5 years. It also adopted all the latest technologies like complete computerization, bar coding of goods, implementation of various MIS Reporting System, effective inventory monitoring system, analyzing customer data base, etc.
